Introduction

If you are comparing homes along Airport Road, you have probably seen the promise of a metro station "just minutes away". Before you rely on it, check what the metro plan actually says.

The short answer: BMRCL's target for the Hebbal–airport section of the Blue Line is June 2027, but recent reports suggest September 2027 or later is more realistic. Also, Chikkajala metro connectivity will not include a station in Chikkajala itself. The nearest planned stops on the line are Bagalur Cross and Doddajala, which has direct access to the Bangalore Airport Metro Station.

If you are planning to buy a property or invest in an apartment with convenient access to the airport and the planned Namma Metro Airport Line, consider premium 3 BHK apartments in Yelahanka, such as Graviti Hanging Gardens in Chikkajala.

When Will the Blue Line Metro Reach Chikkajala and Airport Road?

The Blue Line Metro in Bangalore has two parts:

Phase 2A starts from Central Silk Board to KR Puram, and Phase 2B starts from KR Puram to Kempegowda International Airport via Hebbal. Phase 2A is 87% complete, and Phase 2B is 62% complete.

BMRCL targeted June 2027 for the roughly 27-km Hebbal–airport section, but the same August 2026 report says work beyond Yelahanka is slow and that trial runs usually take at least six months, so an opening before September 2027 looks unlikely.

So, the commuters on that side will face difficulty in travelling, but investing in Graviti Hanging Gardens near the upcoming Blue Line metro makes it a better asset for their future.

Is a Metro Station Planned in Chikkajala?

No. The Chikkajala metro station, estimated at ₹130 crore, was dropped along with Bettahalasuru because of a ₹270 crore funding shortfall, as Asianet News reported in September 2024. A 2026 Deccan Herald report still describes both as dropped.

As of now, according to the Karnataka government, there is no Chikkajala metro station, but the metro line crosses this particular location, which is placed south of Bagalur Cross Metro Station and north of Doddajala Metro Station.

Here is an advantage for investors who are looking for a premium apartment in North Bangalore with biophilic architecture and luxury Japanese landscape: you are just 4 km away from the Doddajala Metro Station, which has a direct commute to the Namma Metro Airport Line.

Blue Line Metro Route: Which Stations Will Connect to Bangalore Airport?

The Namma Metro Airport Line Phase 2A runs from Central Silk Board to KR Puram, spanning 19.75 km with 13 stations, and the Phase 2B starts from KR Puram to Kempegowda International Airport, spanning 38.44 km with 17 stations. The planned interchanges include the Yellow Line at Central Silk Board Metro Station, the Purple Line at KR Puram Metro Station and the Pink Line at Nagawara Metro Station.

Reaching the Bangalore Airport Metro will become easier for commuters once the Blue Line metro starts. Residents who are looking to invest in apartments near Doddajala Metro Station can look at the Graviti Hanging Gardens, Chikkajala,

How Will Metro Connectivity Affect Real Estate in Chikkajala?

Better Access to the Airport

Employees who work at Kempegowda International Airport, frequent travellers and North Bangalore professionals may gain a predictable alternative to road traffic, once the blue line metro opens and if the nearest station is easy to reach.

Potential Improvement in Residential Demand

Better transport often makes an area more attractive to buyers, but prices also depend on supply, builder credibility and the wider economy. No source can promise appreciation.

Interest from Long-Term Investors

Investors should weigh the opening timeline, distance to the nearest station, rental demand, approvals and holding period. The dropped Chikkajala station shows that infrastructure plans can change.

Why the Exact Property Location Matters

Being in a metro corridor is not the same as being near a station. If you are searching for apartments near Doddajala Metro Station, measure the actual road distance, check last-mile transport and confirm the station's opening status.

What Is the Latest Update on Bangalore Airport Metro Construction?

As of October 2026, Phase 2B is still under construction. The Deccan Herald report says contractor NCC has asked for until March 2027 to finish the Yelahanka–airport stretch, its third extension after deadlines of March 2024, June 2025 and June 2026. The KR Puram–Hebbal section is targeted for December 2027.

Should You Buy Property in Chikkajala Before the Metro Opens?

Buying early can offer more choice and flexible payment plans, but you carry the risk of delays. The Blue Line's deadlines have already moved several times.

Judge the home on its current merits: road access, K-RERA registration, approvals, construction progress, your daily commute and how long you plan to hold it. If the metro opens on time, it is a bonus.

Conclusion

The Blue Line is under construction; its airport section is targeted for mid-2027. Connectivity may still help the area, but the benefit depends on how near a property is to a working station. Why Is Graviti Hanging Gardens' Location in Chikkajala an Advantage?

Connectivity to Kempegowda International Airport

According to the BMRCL, there is no particular metro station allotted in Chikkajala; the nearest metro station, Doddajala, is just 4 km away from Chikkajala. Many residents in Bangalore suffer a lot while travelling, especially to the Airport. But imagine you are living in Graviti Hanging Gardens in Chikkajala and reach the Kempegowda International Airport in just 8 to 10 minutes by the upcoming Blue Line metro, and in 20 minutes by your own vehicle.

This is going to be the real luxury for many residents who plan to settle in North Bangalore.

Access to Yelahanka and Hebbal

Airport Road links Chikkajala to Yelahanka and Hebbal, and the planned Blue Line will stop at Yelahanka and Hebbal. Residents would therefore have road access to these hubs, and possibly rail access later. So, if you are planning to buy a luxury apartment in Yelahanka or near Chikkajala, you have to calculate the exact travel times depending on traffic, and test the route yourself on a weekday morning.

Proximity to Emerging Employment Destinations

The Devanahalli area is home to the KIADB Aerospace Park, the Hardware Park and the Airport City development. These are growth areas that may support real estate demand. Travel time from Graviti Hanging Gardens to these locations is within 20 minutes, making your everyday work commute easier.
